Dentro afuera es el título global de nuestra propuesta porque en la mina lo de dentro condiciona el afuera, a veces dramáticamente; pero también porque nosotros hemos querido reflejar desde el título ese permanente viaje de ida y vuelta entre el mundo exterior y el interior de la mina que ha marcado desde antaño la vida del minero.
En nuestra visita a la mina y a sus instalaciones, pero también en nuestro contacto con los mineros y sus familias, hemos recibido un impacto fuerte y una gran calidez humana. Y en nuestras grabaciones en video y en audio y en nuestras fotografías nos han quedado huellas, que en todo caso complementan a las más importantes: las que permanecen en nuestra memoria como vivencias. Con todo eso hemos construido dos obras que reconstruyen esas impresiones desde la perspectiva artística, no documental, aunque empleen documentos: se trata de una instalación InterMedia y de una pieza estereofónica pensada para la radio.
La obra radiofónica, estrenada a nivel nacional en España en marzo de 2011, emplea las voces de los mineros encajadas en esos duros sonidos de la explotación minera del Pozu Carrio, que es por cierto una de las últimas minas de carbón que se explotan en la cuenca asturiana del Nalón. La producción y el encargo de esta obra han sido de la Fundación Ladines y la obra está dedicada a su director, Cuco Suárez.
Work made starting from the stay in the month of April 2009 in the mining area of the Valle del Nalón, at the invitation of the LADINES Foundation and his President, Cuco Suárez.
The authors focused on mining reality, which has been central to the industrial and economic development of the Principado for quite some time, although it is now a sector in clear recession. Those remains and its present activity feeds this work, due that for one intense week Jerez and Iges were collecting photographic, videographic and sonorous materials, including the down-slope to the interior of the Pozo Carrio (Carrio’s minings pit), one of the few still operative.
With all these materials the authors made two works, both with the same title -DENTRO AFUERA (inside out)- to unify the artistic intention that binds them, but with different format: a purely sound work of Radio Art and the other that is a Videoinstallation.
The first one was presented in double session: June 29 in LADINES Foundation and June 30 in the Municipal Foundation of Culture of Gijón (Instituto Jovellanos).
The videoinstallation was presented during the month of December 2009 in the Exhibition Halls of the Museum of the Railway the Gijón.
Also in the same place and at the same period of time, the sound piece of Radio Art could be heard inside one of the old wagons of the Museum as well as being released in Radio Mieres.
